Vincent Moon to Premiere ‘An Island’
February 1, 2011
French filmmaker/artist Vincent Moon, aka Mathieu Saura, has come a long way since the debut of his game-changing “Take Away Show” videos, which have portrayed dozens of top artists, as well as up-and-comers, performing live in varied — sometimes unusual or unwieldy — environments to brilliant effect. (A personal fave is his work with The National.) Now in addition to directing aconcert film for Arcade Fire, among other post-Blogotheque projects, Moon will unveil his latest feature-length: An Island, a film that follows the Danish bandEfterklang as they collaborate with over 200 local musicians, kids, and parents over the course of 4 days in their home country.
Watch a stunning clip from the film, which premieres this month at various screenings, above. Also, you might want to read a new, somewhat scandalous interview with Moon that’s been making the rounds, in which he sounds off on his frustration with Arcade Fire members, his distaste for music coming from the U.S./U.K., and why he might retire from making “images,” here.

i like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another ‘til i drop. this is the night, what it does to you. i had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion.
