Happy Birthday! Elvis
Some Elvis trivia:
Elvis was really a blonde.
He had a nose job in his 20’s
He had a twin brother who died at birth. His mother knew she was having twins even though she never saw a doctor during her entire pregnancy. She also knew Elvis would be famous someday.

Watch: Laura Marling Plays 5 New Songs Live
January 4, 2011
The meteoric rise of Laura Marling’s career following last year’s release of her brilliant second album, I Speak Because I Can, may not have peaked just yet, but the 20-year-old singer-songwriter already has another collection of Ethan Johns-produced recordings arriving “soon.” While the time frame for that release is obviously unknown, she has been previewing new material on the road in recent months. In addition to “Rest In the Bed” and “Don’t Ask Me Why”, which she debuted last spring, Marling played three more new tunes, “Night After Night”, “Who Am I?”, and “Heaven Again”, at subsequent shows.

White Stripes Reissue Captain Beefheart Covers/Sub Pop Singles
January 4, 2011
Sonic Youth aren’t the only ones to dust off their in-the-vault Captain Beefheart covers in light of the legendary avant garde rocker’s recent passing: Third Man Records announced the 2011 First Quarter package for their subscription service/fanclub, the Vault, today, which includes a double-LP compilation of last year’s singles (we’re talking incredible recordings from Laura Marling, Wanda Jackson, Conan, and more here, people), a 5.6.7.8’s 7-inch, and a reissue of their 2001 Sub Pop Singles Club contribution — “Party of Special Things to Do”, “China Pig,” and “Ashtray Heart” — in honor of both Don Van Vliet and Sub Pop’s Andy Kotowicz, who tragically passed away at only 37 in October.
Join The Vault before January 31 for the aforementioned goods (honestly, this is probably their best offering yet), and revisit the early Stripes take on “China Pig” after the jump:
