The Whigs – Every Little Bit
A generation of bands such as Cast and Ocean Colour Scene who benefited from the high profile patronage of Mr Gallagher. All success stories carry some other acts along in their wake, and it seems Kings Of Leon may be about to do the same.
Fellow Nashville citizens Mona have been making waves, and despite their avowed independence have been linked in the media to Kings Of Leon. The Followills have also admitted being fans of The Whigs.
Booking the band for their Hyde Park show, The Whigs made their British debut in front of countless thousand people. Not band going, considering their Ben H Allen recorded album isn’t even released yet.
‘In The Dark’ is set to be released next year, sounding like a more straight ahead version of The Hold Steady. Mature and atmospheric without losing their virile power, the album has spawned new single ‘So Lonely’.
A three minute blast of energy, ‘So Lonely’ has already gathered some important radio play. Zane Lowe is getting behind The Whigs and no wonder – with their vital brand of blue collar rock this band could really go places.
