Hipster: The Dead End of Western Civilization

We’ve reached a point in our civilization where counterculture has mutated into a self-obsessed aesthetic vacuum. So while hipsterdom is the end product of all prior countercultures, it’s been stripped of its subversion and originality.

Father John Misty isn’t the only sexy dude, pushing Japanese Whiskey

Can’t help it, totally smitten with J.Tillman’s alter ego, Father John Misty.  Diggin’ the new skinny physique, short do, effeminate dance moves, and cocky attitude. It’s so creepy hot.

and the album is awesome, of course. Thinkin’ Mr. Tillman has found his groovy.

Haven’t done a Podcast Thursday in quite a while. Came across this program so I thought I’d share.

Here’s a bit about Radio Free Song Club from their site:

Radio Free Song Club is a group of writers with a monthly song deadline. Host Nicholas Hill presents these new tunes along with interviews and live performances and special guests. Some of the songs are finished and fully produced, some are roughly recorded fragments, some in-between. The writers are looking for a good song, the world is looking for a good song. Someone might get lucky.

Diamond Rugs is a collaboration between John McCauley (Deer Tick), Robbie Crowell (Deer Tick), Ian Saint Pé (The Black Lips), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Hardy Morris (Dead Confederate) and Bryan Dufresne (Six Finger Satellite).

via YVYNL follow this dude, he’s got awesome music taste, and a rad tumblr

Watching this documentary on Jeff Buckley. I use to hang out at Mercury Lounge a lot when i lived in NYC in the 90’s. He played there a few times. What an amazing artist. I feel fortunate to have seen him perform.
